Coronavirus: What Our Church Is Doing
We’ve been closely tracking the news of the coronavirus (COVID-19) both locally and globally. As you’re likely aware, there are only three confirmed cases in Frisco. Those three individuals were all in the same family, have been quarantined, are are recovering well. While we know this virus is primarily spread through close contact, we want to take precautionary measures to create a safe and healthy environment for us all to gather and worship. Before we get into the details of the plans, I want to speak first to our posture as Christ followers.
For many, the spread of this virus has caused fear and anxiety. Scripture is clear that God has given us a spirit of love, not fear. My prayer is that we would sense peace in the midst of these circumstances. This does not mean we should be careless or reactionary; rather, may we work together to serve our church and community in a way that demonstrates trust in our God who is in control.
We attended a briefing today for the local faith community from Chris Hill with the Collin County Commissioners Court. Pastors were advised to take several steps to protect the health and well being of their church family. Based on the updates we received, these are the precautions we are taking at KingdomLife Church.
DOORS To minimize your need to touch door handles, our volunteer teams will hold exterior doors open to greet you and will sanitize door handles before and after gathering times.
LOBBY Several hand sanitizer stations will be more readily available throughout our building.
FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN In addition to keeping our facilities clean, we will be taking extra care of our kids’ spaces. In addition to sanitizing the kids toys and rooms before and after every service, we will also wipe down all the door knobs, countertops, light switches, and other areas where hands touch.
FACEBOOK LIVE STREAM If you or a family member find yourself feeling sick on Sunday, we encourage you to stay home and join us online by going to our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/kingdomlifefrisco/. We stream live at 10:30 am on Sunday’s.
MONTHLY CHURCHWIDE DINNER We are cancelling our Churchwide Dinner that was scheduled for Wednesday March 18th. The Collin County Health Department recommends cancelling or delaying buffet-style meals until the threat of this virus is over.
We encourage you to take some time to understand proper prevention measures to avoid spreading the virus by reading through the CDC recommendations here.
Here are some of the basic measures listed on the CDC website:
We will provide necessary updates to you via email and post them on our website and Facebook page. We ask that you be prayerful for our world and community, specifically for those who are directly impacted by this virus.
