What We Believe
Tenets of Faith and Doctrine
KingdomLife accepts the Holy Bible as the revealed will of God, the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice, and for the purpose of maintaining general unity, adheres to these fundamental Tenets of Faith and Doctrine:
The Authority of the Bible
We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, a revelation from God to man, the living, infallible, and everlasting rule of faith and conduct, and is superior to conscience and reason
(II Tim. 3:15-17; I Pet. 1:23-25; Heb. 4:12)
We believe the triune Godhead is comprised of three separate and distinct personalities--Father, Son, and Holy Spirit--who are eternally self-existent, self-revealed, and function as one entity. Jesus Christ, who is God manifested in the flesh, is the second member of the Godhead, co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Holy Spirit.
(John 1:1-5, 10-14; Matt. 28:18-20)
Sinfulness of Man
We believe man was created good and upright, for God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, after Our likeness." But, man, by voluntary transgression fell, and his only hope of redemption in in Jesus Christ the Son of God
(Gen.1:26-31, 3:1-7; Rom. 5:12-21)
We believe that man's redemption in only through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. We believe that on the cross Jesus Christ became sin and sickness providing both salvation and divine healing for all mankind, and that mankind is justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. We believe that mankind is saved by grace through faith and not by works. We believe that if man confesses with his mouth that Jesus is Lord and believes in his heart that God raised Him from the dead, he shall be saved.
(Rom. 3:24, 10:8-10; John 3:3; Ps. 103:3; Eph. 2:8-9)
Evidence of Salvation
We believe that the inward evidence of salvation to the believer is the direct witness of the Spirit. We believe that the outward evidence of salvation to others is a life of righteousness and true holiness. We believe that salvation is by faith in Jesus Christ alone and not by human works; however, we believe that our works will determine our reward in eternity.
(Rom. 8:16; 1 John 3:18-19, 24; Matt. 7:16-20; Eph. 2:8-10; Gal. 2:16; 2 Cor. 5:10)
We believe that the ordinance of baptism should be observed as commanded in Scripture by all who have truly repented and have believed in their hearts that Jesus is Lord and Savior. In observing water baptism, we believe that the Christian declares to the world that they have died with Jesus and have also been raised with Him to walk in newness of life.
(Matt. 28:19; Rom. 6:4; Acts 10:47-48)
The Lord's Supper
We believe that the Christian should observe the Lord's Supper according to 1 Corinthians 11:24-28, "And when He gave thanks, He broke it, and said, 'This is My body which is broken for you. Do this in remembrance of Me.' In the same way also He took the cup, after supper, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.' Let a man examine himself, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup."
Baptism in the Holy Spirit
We believe that all believers are entitled to, and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father--the Baptism in the Holy Spirit--according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. We believe that with it comes the endowment of power for life and service, and the bestowment of the gifts and their uses for the work of the ministry. We believe this experience is distinct from and subsequent to the experience of the new birth.
(Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4-5, 8, 2:38, 10:44-46, 11:14-16; 1 Cor. 12:1-31)
Speaking in Tongues
We believe the full consummation of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is evidenced by the initial physical sign of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives utterance, and by the subsequent manifestation of spiritual power in public testimony and service.
(Acts 1:8, 2:4, 10:44-46, 19:2; Gal. 5:16-26)
We believe the Church is the body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for her fulfillment of the Great Commission. We believe that each believer, born of the Spirit, is an integral part of the general assembly and Church of the firstborn, whose names are written in Heaven. We believe that the ascension gifts of Christ listed in Ephesians 4:11 will continue until the Church is glorified at the Second Coming. We believe that these ascension gifts operate within and through the local church, and we also believe that these ascension gifts operate beyond the walls of the local church within culture.
(Eph. 1:22-23, 2:19-22, 4:11; Heb. 12:23)
We believe in total prosperity for every follower of Christ: spiritual, mental, physical, financial, and social.
(3 John 2; 2 Cor. 5:17-21, 9:6-15; 2 Tim. 1:7; Rom. 12:2; Is. 26:3, 53:4-5; Matt. 8:17; 1 Peter 2:24; Mal. 3:10-11; Luke 2:52, 6:38; Deut. 28:1-14; Prov. 3:4; Esther 2:15)
Kingdom of God
We believe that the kingdom of God is present and eternal. We affirm that the kingdom has come definitively in the Christ event (His death, burial, resurrection, and ascension); that it is coming progressively in history (like leaven in the lump and seed growing in the ground); and that it will come consummately at the return of Christ.
We believe that the Bible teaches an optimistic end to the world. We believe that the Triune God has reigned sovereignly as King of all creation throughout all time and that Jesus is the present King of kings and Lord of lords. We affirm that God's active reign through Christ will increase until it is consummated at the actual, physical, and bodily second coming of Christ. We emphasize a covenantal approach to Biblical interpretation of eschatology rather than a dispensational approach. We believe we are to disciple the nations, take dominion over the earth, and occupy until He comes.
(Matt. 28:18-20; Gen. 1:28; Luke 19:13)
Second Coming of Christ
We believe that Jesus is coming again to gather all His Saints to ever be with Him, but not until the earth reaches a fuller level of restoration as recorded in Acts 3:21. We believe that His Saints shall rule and reign with Him for one thousand years on earth. After this, we believe there shall be a new heaven and a new earth.
(Acts 3:21; 1 Cor. 15:51-52; 1 Thess. 4:16-17; 2 Thess. 1:7; Rev. 19:11-16, 20:1-6, 21)
We believe that those who have not accepted the redemptive work of Christ will suffer eternal separation from the Godhead. We believe that the devil and his angels, the beast and the false prophet, and anyone whose name is not found written in the Book of Life, shall be consigned to everlasting punishment in the lake of fire, which burns with brimstone. We believe the lake of fire is the second death.
(Rev. 19:20, 20:10-15)
We believe marriage is between a man and a woman. We believe that Scripture dictates that any sexual activity outside of marriage is sin before the Lord.
(Gen. 2:24; Matt. 5:27-32, 19:1-9; Ex. 20:14; Lev. 18:1-30; Rom. 1:18-32; 1 Cor. 5:1-5, 6:9-10; 1 Thess. 4:1-7)
